Join Standardbred Canada this week as we follow the 2024 National Driving Championship (NDC) through various channels. The exciting event kicks off with the NDC Driver Showcase, which will be streamed live on the Standardbred Canada website and Facebook page at 8:30 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, July 4.
The NDC Driver Showcase, held in Trois-Rivières, Que., will feature exclusive interviews with all nine NDC competitors: Tyler Borth (Ontario), Stephane Brosseau (Quebec/Eastern Ontario), Redmond Doucet (Atlantic Canada), David Dowling (Atlantic Canada), Phil Giesbrecht (Western Canada), Mike Hennessy (Western Canada), James MacDonald (Ontario), Doug McNair (World Driving Representative) and Robert Shepherd (Quebec/Eastern Ontario).
Host Mark McKelvie expressed his excitement to be a part of such a prestigious racing event that covers all of Canada, like the NDC. He looks forward to visiting Trois-Rivières for the first time and meeting the passionate racing fans in Quebec. McKelvie believes that the NDC will be a thrilling competition with lots at stake, creating a heated day of racing that fans across the country will enjoy.
Following the NDC Driver Showcase, the main event will take place at Hippodrome 3R on Friday, July 5, with the first post time scheduled for 4 p.m. (EDT). The NDC will consist of nine races during Friday's harness racing card, and the winner will represent Canada at the 2025 World Driving Championship in New Zealand.
The live NDC broadcast on Friday will feature special guests, including Standardbred Canada’s President and CEO, Darryl Kaplan, SC Board members, and driver interviews with host Jean Laroche. Be sure to tune in and witness the excitement of the NDC unfold!
