The multiple award-winning pacer and millionaire, Stockade Seelster, has officially retired from racing and will stand stud in 2025. Stockade Seelster, who boasts an impressive record of p,2,1:49.3s; 3,1:48.4s and earnings of $1,621,878, will begin his breeding career in Ohio.
A four-year-old son of State Treasurer out of Soiree Seelster, Stockade Seelster earned numerous accolades, including the 2022 Dan Patch Award for Two-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year. He also claimed back-to-back O’Brien Awards in Canada as both the Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year. As a juvenile, he won eight of his 11 starts, including the prestigious Metro Pace, and went undefeated in the Ontario Sires Stakes competition.
As a three-year-old, Stockade Seelster secured victories in the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes, Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series, North America Cup consolation, and the Progress Pace elimination. He also placed second in the Hempt Stakes and the elimination and final of the Breeders Crown, finishing behind Confederate.
Trained by Dr Ian Moore and driven primarily by Jody Jamieson, Stockade Seelster earned high praise throughout his career. "He had the deepest lungs of any horse I’ve driven," Jamieson said. "He was always willing and able to win."
Managed by Cornerstone Stock Farm, Stockade Seelster will stand at Winterwood Farm in Bellville, Ohio, for a stud fee of $4,000. As a son of State Treasurer from a Big Jim mare, his pedigree makes him a valuable outcross for Ohio’s growing breeding program.
