Belmont Winner Arcangelo Recovers from Surgery

Arcangelo is an Eclipse Award finalist. He won last year's Belmont Stakes and Grade 1 Travers. He has recovered from surgery to treat a condylar fracture. Arcangelo developed foot problems. This led to his withdrawal from the Breeders' Cup Classic. This injury shod itself afterward. Dr. Larry Bramlage performed the surgery at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital.

Arcangelo has an impressive career record of 6 starts. He has 4 wins, 1 second place, and no third-place finishes. Trained by Jena Antonucci, he has accumulated earnings of $1,754,900. Don Alberto Corporation bred him in Kentucky, United States, and he belongs to Blue Rose Farm LLC. His pedigree includes Arrogate (as a sire) out of the mare Modeling by Tapit.

Peter Sheehan is the stallion manager at Lane's End Farm where Arcangelo stands. He mentioned that the injury might have healed without surgery. Yet, the procedure will ensure better long-term outcomes for Arcangelo. They expect him to begin his first season at stud on time, with a stud fee of $35,000 for 2024.

Arcangelo's career highlights include wins in major races. He won the Belmont Stakes and the Travers Stakes. These victories showcase his exceptional racing capabilities.
