At Saratoga Race Course, dual graded stakes winner Dornoch (Good Magic) is getting ready in case he gets a start in the GI Belmont S on June 8.
“He loves it here,” said trainer Danny Gargan. “He'll probably work Friday–we'll get a solid work in him over the Oklahoma.”
When Dornoch was last seen, he was moved back at the half-mile call after drawing the rail during a rough 10th-place finish in the GI Kentucky Derby. Before he ran evenly down the lane, he checked again at the quarter pole.
The bay colt won the GII Remsen S. at Aqueduct in December and the GII Fountain of Youth S. at Gulfstream Park in March, both of which were rated races. He qualified for the Derby by finishing fourth in the GI Toyota Blue Grass S. at Keeneland in April.
“Dornoch is shooting for the Belmont,” said Gargan. “He had a rough trip in the Derby and had no shot a hundred yards in.”
