Ontario native Andrew Harris is excited about competing in the prestigious Battle of the Belles for two-year-old pacing fillies with Millie May Hanover (Bettors Delight). She races in the first elimination on July 29 at Grand River Raceway, coming off two-place finishes in the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold series. Louis-Philippe Roy will drive her from post two, and she is the 8/5 morning-line favourite.
Harris, who has trained primarily in New Jersey, views a potential victory as a return to his roots. Millie May Hanover was purchased for $300,000 and is out of OSC Gold winner Mayhem Seelster, with all her siblings earning over $150,000.
In the second elimination, Wicked N Single (Mcwicked), another strong contender, has also won two stakes races and starts from post two. The top four from each elimination will advance to the final.
For the Battle of Waterloo, OSS Gold winner Stonebridge Wizard is the 8/5 favourite, with Travis Cullen driving, while fellow contender Crack Shot is 2-1 and also undefeated in OSS Grassroots. The finals for both events take place on Industry Day, August 5
