Following a narrow miss in the previous week's Preferred Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District, Hollys Treasure made a commanding statement, clinching a decisive victory in Monday evening's featured event.
Guided by Dan Clements, Hollys Treasure took charge from Post 5, setting the pace with fractions of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:25.3, before unleashing a final burst of speed in a swift :29 final quarter. The six-year-old gelding crossed the finish line 1-3/4 lengths ahead of the race favourite, P L Oliver, in a time of 1:54.3. Im Sponge Worthy secured the third spot.
Trained by Cassidy Schneider, the homebred is owned by Colonel Schneider, Jr. of Arthur, Ontario. Hollys Treasure, a son of State Treasurer-L H Hollys Cam, boasts an impressive record of 22 victories and is nearing the $150,000 milestone in career earnings.
