On Wednesday, August 28, Harrah’s Hoosier Park hosted two divisions of the $91,216 Indiana Sire Stakes for freshman pacing fillies, marking the fourth leg of the series. The evening showcased impressive performances, with both Brookview Fancy and JK Pearl Stone achieving career-best times in their respective divisions.
Brookview Fancy's Dominant Victory
Brookview Fancy, piloted by Joey Putnam, started the race from post five as the 9-5 second choice. Immediately, she charged to the front after a fierce battle with Kaks The Boss (driven by Kyle Wilfong), clocking a swift opening quarter in 26 seconds. Putnam maintained a strong pace, reaching the half in 54.4 seconds before extending her lead on the final turn, with a three-quarter time of 1:23.3.
As they turned for home, Brookview Fancy pulled away, ultimately winning by a comfortable length in 1:51.2. Tashish (Brandon Bates), a long shot at 35-1, finished second, followed closely by Wunderkindbluechip at 32-1. This victory marks Brookview Fancy's fourth straight win, making her career record four wins from five starts, with earnings of $148,999. Bred by Brookview Farms, she is the daughter of JK Endofanera and Get Your Armor, purchased for $13,000 at the 2023 Hoosier Classic.
JK Pearl Stone’s Late Surge
In the second division, JK Pearl Stone, driven by Pete Wrenn, was positioned sixth at the start. Wrenn kept her in the pocket behind leader CC Rockin Rosie (Jordan Ross), who led through the first quarter of 27 seconds. The half was clocked in 55.3 seconds, with Heart Song moving up from fourth to challenge.
As Heart Song took command on the final turn, JK Pearl Stone appeared boxed in but found room as they neared the homestretch. Once clear, she accelerated home in 27.1 seconds, winning by a length with a final time of 1:52.4. The 4-5 favourite, Loveyoucookie (Ricky Macomber Jr.), finished third.
