Information from Tom Amoss on his Saratoga runners

Tom Amoss is enjoying a productive summer meet at Saratoga with a current record of 5 wins, 1 second, and 5 thirds from 23 starts. He shared updates on several key runners in his barn, highlighting both established competitors and promising newcomers.

Hoosier Philly - The 4-year-old Into Mischief mare is Amoss’s latest graded-stakes winner, having won the 2022 Golden Rod (G2). This year, she is 1-for-4, with a recent win in black-type stakes at Oaklawn. Amoss aims to run her in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa, contingent on the weather, noting her preference for dirt. He plans to potentially send her to Churchill Downs next for the Locust Grove (G2) to build her confidence, especially after dealing with the summer heat.

Minnesota Ready - This versatile 5-year-old gelding has a record of 6 starts, 2 wins, 2 seconds, and 1 third this year, performing well on both dirt and turf. He could run in the Harvey Pack at Saratoga or at Kentucky Downs in an overnight stakes race. Amoss is pleased with his performance since acquiring him after a dispersal sale.

Riley Jean - The 4-year-old Gun Runner filly broke her maiden in May and has since secured two wins and a second in allowance races. Amoss acknowledges the need for improvement as she prepares to step into stakes company.

Rock’n a Halo - This 3-year-old son of Catholic Boy began his career strongly but has struggled to find his form. Despite a disappointing effort at Colonial Downs, Amoss intends to keep him on the turf while focusing on his mindset before entering him again.

Among the promising 2-year-olds, Kimchi Cat, who recently won the Bolton Landing Stakes, is an exciting prospect, scheduled for further distance races. Lady Orient debuted successfully at Ellis Park and is set to run in the P.G. Johnson stakes. I Got Game has shown potential despite being a maiden, and Amoss is hopeful for his next start after altering his training regimen. Finally, Authentic Gallop, after an uninspiring debut, is expected to regroup for another race at Saratoga.

Overall, Amoss’s string of horses is thriving, with improvements expected in the potential upcoming stakes races.
