Unbeaten two-year-old pacing filly Justine Ray was aiming for her fourth consecutive win at Hippodrome 3R in Trois-Rivières but made a costly break at the start of the race.
In the 10th race, the second $7,500 division of the Future Stars Series, the 1/9 favourite Justine Ray's misstep left the race open. HP Top Modele (Jocelyn Gendron) took the early lead, setting a brisk pace. Despite her break, Justine Ray caught up and finished fourth, while Silver Majesty (Denis St. Pierre) seized the opportunity to win, crossing the finish line in 2:00.2, three lengths ahead of HP Top Modele. Silver Majesty, trained by Jean-François Maguire and owned by Silver Stable and Marie Michelle Gaboury, paid $22.80 to win.
In the first filly division, Coeuratout Du Lac (Pierre-Luc Roy) dominated from start to finish, winning by eight and three-quarter lengths in 2:04. Mikamaksomespeed (Denis St. Pierre) was second, and Wild River Raccoon (Stephane Brosseau) finished third after a break at the start. Coeuratout Du Lac, trained by David Pilon, is owned by Louis-Philippe Roy Racing and others, and paid just $2.10 to win.
HP Bellissino (Robert Shepherd) won the first colt division, overcoming pacesetter Changement Detemps (Stephane Brosseau) to win by two and three-quarter lengths in 2:01. HP Bellissino, trained by Chantal Mitchell and co-owned by Claude Hamel and Jean Denis Pelletier, paid $8.20.
The Magic Moment (Jonathan Lachance) led wire-to-wire in the second colt division, winning by two and one-half lengths in 2:02. Winchester Phoenix (Stephane Brosseau) finished second, and Deal Speed (William Roy) was third. The Magic Moment, trained by Francis Guillemette and owned by Gestion A& A Belanger, Inc., paid $2.80.
Robert Shepherd and David Pilon each had a driving and training quadruple, respectively, marking a first for both this season. Pierre-Luc Roy added a driving double. Hippodrome 3R will be closed for a week due to the Grand Prix auto race, resuming live racing on Friday, August 16. The $200,000 Prix d’Été for four-year-old pacers will be featured on Sunday, August 18.
