Michael Girouard Anticipates an Exciting Comeback at The Meadowlands

Michael Girouard, a Massachusetts native, is set to make a remarkable comeback at The Meadowlands after an astonishing 19-year hiatus.

This accomplished fourth-generation horseman will showcase his skills by driving two horses from his seven-horse stable during the upcoming Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club events on Friday, Feb. 9.

Girouard will take the reins of Furious Beach in the opening race and Kick The Dirt Up in the tenth race. Reflecting on his early introduction to the sport by his grandfather, Norman Letendre, Girouard fondly recalls how his passion for horses was ignited during his formative years in Spencer, Massachusetts. With an impressive track record of 130 wins as a driver and 542 wins as a trainer, Girouard's love for the equine world has remained unwavering. After a brief hiatus to focus on his trucking business, he returned to the racing scene full-time in 2017, achieving remarkable success with his training stable, which has secured 181 wins and amassed $1.23 million in purses.

Girouard's unwavering dedication to his horses and his desire for competition led him back to the sport he holds dear. Despite operating a smaller stable, Girouard has defied the odds, consistently delivering exceptional results. As he prepares for his much-anticipated return to The Meadowlands, Girouard's spirits are high, and he eagerly anticipates the excitement and challenges that lie ahead on this remarkable journey.
