Caesars Day, featuring the $150,000 Caesars S. and the $150,000 Horseshoe Indianapolis S., has been rescheduled to take place on Saturday, July 13 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The decision to postpone the event from mid-May was due to severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall exceeding four inches the night before, resulting in the cancellation of the racing program.
Eric Halstrom, Vice President and General Manager of Racing, expressed regret for the postponement but emphasised the significance of both races on the seasonal schedule. Despite the setback, the racing office staff, led by Chris Polzin, Director of Racing, diligently searched for the best timing among other turf events in the Midwest. The rescheduled date of July 13 has been deemed favourable for both races.
The Caesars is a prestigious one-mile turf race for 3-year-olds, while the Horseshoe Indianapolis S. shares the same distance and is specifically for 3-year-old fillies. The Caesars, established in 2003 during the inaugural racing season, will mark its 19th running, while the Horseshoe Indianapolis S., inaugurated in 2009, will celebrate its 16th year.
