Royal Emeralds took the lead early and dominated the $20,833 trotting feature at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, clocking a new lifetime mark of 1:55.1.
Mischievous G led initially, reaching the quarter in :28.4, but driver Jim Pantaleano pulled Royal Emeralds from the pocket and took the lead before the half in :58.1. The Greenshoe sophomore filly increased her pace down the backstretch, hitting three-quarters in 1:25.4, and held a 1-1/4 length advantage to the finish line over Mischievous G. The victory was for trainer Megan Scran and owners Jeffrey Northcott and Richard Macpherson.
Anthony Napolitano drove four winners on Monday, moving into third place in the drivers' standings. Matt Kakaley, currently in second, had three wins, while George Napolitano Jr. had two. Kakaley leads with 178 wins, and George Napolitano Jr. follows with 174.
The racing week wraps up on Tuesday (Aug. 6) with a 1 p.m. card featuring a $17,000 contest for up-and-coming pacers. There will also be a carryover in the Pick 5 wager starting in race five.
