Saulsbrook Inferno maintained her perfect record during the P.E.I. Colt Stakes

Saulsbrook Inferno (Flameproof Hanover) maintained her perfect record during the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies on Wednesday evening at Red Shores Summerside Raceway.

Driven by Marc Campbell, Saulsbrook Inferno won her $19,600 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Gold division in a time of 1:59.1, keeping her undefeated streak alive after two starts. Earl Watts trains the filly for owners Windemere Farms, Hollis Newson, Sterling Buchanan, and Jack Quinn. Saltwater Swinger, driven by Mike McGuigan, finished second, followed by Lorne Valley Liv with Adam Merner on the bike.

In the other $19,600 Gold division, Lady Hess showcased an impressive performance, winning by five and three-quarter lengths in 1:57.4. Merner drove the filly, trained by Jamie Smith and owned by Groupof7 Stable of Charlottetown. Muchtooyoungforyou (Dowling) took second, while Woodmere Flojo (Corey MacPherson) completed the triactor.

Four $9,800 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Grassroots divisions saw wins from My Happy Place (Gilles Barrieau) in 1:59.2, Howmac Maleficent (Ken Murphy) in 2:00.4, Woodmere Honeymoon (Merner) in 2:01.1, and Tobins Dream (Barrieau) also in 2:01.1.

In race 8, Lady Llamrei (Merner) made a break at the start but both horse and driver emerged unscathed.

Dowling enjoyed a driving triple on the night, winning with Elm Grove Mistress (1:58) and Spectrum Seelster (1:56.1) for trainer Jennifer Doyle, along with Arts Beach (1:59.1) from his own stable.

Live racing continues Thursday evening at 6 PM at Red Shores Summerside, featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts.

Additionally, Red Shores Summerside will host racing on Monday, July 22, at 6 PM, featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for 2- and 3-year-old trotters and overnight races that were cancelled due to weather on July 16.
