The Stronach Stables' homebred by Silent Name (Jpn), co-owned by Joel Hunsberger, clinched victory in an off-the-turf allowance/optional claiming race at Fair Grounds over 1 mile and 70 yards in 1:43.30. Leading from start to finish, this dark bay gelding triumphed by 3/4 of a length, earning $36,000.
Currently under the tutelage of trainer Tanner Tracy, Silent Poet previously trained with John Sadler in California, where he captured the Grade 1 Highlander Stakes in 2021, along with victories in the Grade 2 Nearctic and Play the King Stakes, among others. With a remarkable record of 13 wins, 8 seconds, and 4 thirds in 38 races, Silent Poet has amassed earnings totalling $1,066,684.
In addition, Ontario sire Society's Chairman celebrated success at Fair Grounds with One True Gentleman triumphing in a maiden special weight race on March 7. Owned and bred by Camhaven Farms, and trained by Steve Flint, the four-year-old out of the Smart Strike mare Wild Strike won the 5 1/2 furlong turf race by 3/4 of a length in 1:05.38, earning a commendable 77 Beyer Figure.
