Star of Mystery showcased her star power by defeating male competitors

Star of Mystery, a U.K. homebred from Godolphin, showcased her star power by defeating male competitors for the third time this year at the Grade 3 Quick Call Stakes in Saratoga. Trained by Charlie Appleby, the Kodiac bay had initially been entered in a listed race for fillies but was switched to the Quick Call Stakes after a third-place finish in her last outing. Star of Mystery had previously triumphed against male horses in the Al Wasl and Blue Point Sprint races in January.

Assistant trainer Chris Connett noted that European horses can sometimes struggle in their first races in the U.S. but Star of Mystery appeared more relaxed on Sunday. Jockey Flavien Prat guided her to victory with a strong finish, overtaking the competition down the stretch. The filly crossed the finish line 1 1/2 lengths ahead of her closest rival, Mansa Musa.

Despite a strong effort from Mansa Musa, trainer Bill Mott acknowledged the superiority of Star of Mystery in the race. The filly, out of the mare Mistrusting, is now a multiple-stakes winner with an impressive record. Jockey Flavien Prat expressed satisfaction with Star of Mystery's performance and noted her improved behaviour compared to her previous race.

Overall, Star of Mystery's victory in the Quick Call Stakes solidified her reputation as a top contender in the sprinting division. Trainer Charlie Appleby will now consider her next steps in her racing career following this impressive win.
