The eliminations for the prestigious Metro Pace, Canadian Trotting Classic, Shes A Great Lady, and Elegantimage were held on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park, setting the stage for next Saturday’s (September 21) the richest night in Canadian harness racing.
Captain Optimistic and Fallout secured key victories in the $40,000 Metro Pace eliminations. Captain Optimistic, driven by Yannick Gingras, took control after a front-end shuffle and never looked back, winning in 1:50.2. Fallout, driven by Tim Tetrick, sat behind the favourite, Swingtown, and surged through the lane for a 1:49.3 victory.
In the Canadian Trotting Classic eliminations, Highland Kismet and Sir Pinocchio claimed victories. Highland Kismet, driven by Bob McClure, led throughout for a 1:51.1 win, while Sir Pinocchio, driven by Jason Bartlett, dominated in 1:52.2.
In the Shes A Great Lady eliminations, Cant See Me and Chantilly delivered strong performances. Chantilly extended her unbeaten streak with a 1:50.4 win, while Cant See Me claimed victory in 1:51.3.
Post positions for the finals will be drawn on Monday evening, with anticipation building for the Metro Pace and other major events.
