Starting from the second tier posed no challenge for Tymal Riggs, as he charged to victory in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot, the highlight of the 10-race card on Monday, June 17, at Grand River Raceway.
Driver Travis Henry initially settled Tymal Riggs in sixth place, while The Great Reset, driven by Lorne House, blazed through an opening quarter in a swift :26.1. The Great Reset led to the halfway point in a more controlled :56.2, with Tymal Riggs securing a second-over position behind Petro Angel, driven by Jason Ryan. On the backstretch, Petro Angel launched an aggressive bid, challenging The Great Reset head-to-head, reaching the three-quarter mark together in 1:25.2, while Tymal Riggs was well-positioned in fourth.
Entering the final turn, The Great Reset leveraged his inside position to fend off Petro Angel's challenge. However, Tymal Riggs swung three-wide on the turn and powered home with a final quarter in :28.3. Tymal Riggs surged to the front, winning by 1-1/2 lengths over a determined The Great Reset, clocking in at 1:54.2. Delgado, driven by Scott Young, finished third. Tymal Riggs, the bettors' second choice, paid $7.10 to win.
Owned and trained by Mark Etsell, this victory marked Tymal Riggs' fourth win in 18 starts this season. The seven-year-old son of Kadabra-All Filled Up now boasts 18 career victories and lifetime earnings of $233,560.
Driver Travis Henry enjoyed a stellar night, securing four wins on the Monday night card.
