On Thursday, May 16, Trevor Henry secured a new career-high earning level of $80 million after driving two winners at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Hope N Glory ($112.60) by Gino Cicero was Henry's first victory of the evening, winning the opening round by a dramatic 55-1 upset. With a 2-3/4 length score in 1:56.2, the Lookslikeachpndale-Merry Maiden filly won her first race of the year in the $17,000 conditioned trot.
Henry's initial score was great, but it was Tactical Seelster, the winner of race eight, who helped Henry cross the finish line first by winning in the $12,000 claiming pace. After going fourth through the first panel in :27.2, Henry and the Sheldon Rose student pulled first over on route to the :55.4 half. Before the three-quarters, in 1:24.4, Tactical Seelster took the lead at the pylons and went on to score by 3-3/4 lengths in 1:53.4. Louis-Philippe Roy's Catchmeonthebeach came in second, followed by Tyler Borth's The Serpent in third.
The four-year-old State Treasurer-Titania Seelster gelding is owned by Rose. This year, tactical Seelster has won four races out of 19 starts, and this is his 12th career victory out of 51 starts. It cost him $4.60 to win.
Trevor Henry has won 7,583 times in his career in addition to reaching the $80 million mark.
