49th La Prevoyante Delivers a Spectacular Finale

The recent 49th La Prevoyante Stakes showcased a thrilling finish, highlighting the importance of family at Woodbine as various horse-loving groups celebrated their passions and triumphs. Terra Racing Stables’ Fashionably Fab capped off a remarkable 2024 season with a hard-fought victory in the stakes, designated for Ontario-sired fillies and mares. The four-year-old filly, sired by Silent Name (Jpn) and out of the Curlin mare Flashy’s Legacy, displayed determination, rallying from a couple of lengths behind during a slow pace orchestrated by longshot Fortyfiveseventy, ridden by Daisuke Fukumoto.

Jockey David Moran, aboard the Kevin Attard-trained Fashionably Fab, faced an uphill battle but managed to angle out the filly in the stretch. Their determination paid off, as the duo fought neck-and-neck with the leader, ultimately crossing the wire just a nose ahead in a time of 1:45, on a sluggish Tapeta surface.

The win for Fashionably Fab was celebrated by more than 20 family members and supporters, marking her 10th victory in 17 career races. With wins in the La Prevoyante, Ontario Matron Stakes (G3), and Belle Mahone Stakes (G3), she positioned herself as a potential candidate for Canada’s Champion Older Mare Main Track for 2024.

Among other highlights, Mary Self watched her mare Make No Mistake clinch her 15th career win, while Kevin McKinlay’s homebred Silent Diva achieved her first victory. Trainer Richie Morden celebrated his best seasonal performance with Give Me the Boots. As the 2024 Woodbine season nears its conclusion, the excitement continues with upcoming races. However, visitors should note the temporary suspension of alcohol service due to a licensing issue at the track.
