Alberta-Bred Horses' luck

Exciting news awaits owners of Alberta-bred racehorses! The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society – Alberta Division has announced a lucrative addition to the 2024 Sales Stakes. Owners whose Alberta-bred horses secure win, place, or show in the October 5th CTHS Sales Stakes will receive a generous 25% bonus. This bonus underscores the commitment to Alberta-bred excellence, ensuring that owners reap greater rewards for their investments.

A substantial purse of $200,000 awaits participants in the CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes, comprising four thrilling races slated for Saturday, October 5th, at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino in Rocky View County. The event will feature divisions for two-year-olds as well as three- and four-year-olds, with separate categories for Colts & Geldings and Fillies. The two-year-olds will showcase their speed over a 6-furlong track, while their older counterparts will tackle a 7-furlong distance.

The CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes form an integral part of the Canadian Sales Stakes Series, which, since its inception in the 2018 sale year, has provided an opportunity for all Canadian-bred yearling graduates of CTHS provincial sales to participate in sales stakes events nationwide. To qualify, yearlings must have met the eligibility criteria stipulated by the CTHS during the provincial yearling sale. In Alberta, eligibility is conferred upon yearlings that have passed through the Alberta Division Sale, with requisite fees paid to the CTHS. This inclusive framework ensures equitable opportunities for Alberta-bred horses to showcase their talent and compete at the highest level.
