Amigo Volo is victorious at Mohawk Park

Amigo Volo returned to the winner's circle in the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, October 21, with James MacDonald guiding him to victory. Starting from post two in a field of six, the Meg Crone-trained trotter settled in third through early fractions of :27 and :56.2. After the half, Amigo Volo made a strong move on the outside, advancing through three-quarters in 1:24.3. In a thrilling blanket finish, Amigo Volo edged out Quebec Hanover and Safe Conduct, stopping the clock at 1:51.3.

The seven-year-old gelding, sired by Father Patrick out of Margarita Momma, is owned by Pinske Stables and David J. Miller. His seasonal record now stands at 7-3-3 in 21 starts, with earnings of $226,706. Amigo Volo’s career tally includes 39 wins and $2,596,252 in total earnings. He paid $4.80 to win.

Also featured on the card were the first rounds of the Harvest Series for Ontario-sired two-year-old fillies, with two $17,000 divisions for trotters and pacers. Oceanview Rumours took the first division for trotters, winning in 1:55.1, while Debra claimed the second division with a gate-to-wire win in 1:56.4. On the pacing side, Windsun Charlotte pulled off a 12-1 upset, clocking 1:54.4, and Promising Moment took the final pace split with a 1:53.2 victory. The second leg of the series will be held on October 28, with the $30,000 final set for November 4.
