Following the cutoff date of March 15 (with an additional week for mail-in submissions), a grand total of 21 four-year-old harness racing pacers have thrown their hats into the ring to vie for the prestigious $200,000 Prix d'Ete Grand Circuit event at the Hippodrome 3R in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada.
Among the 21 nominees, you'll find a stellar lineup of horses that made their mark in last year's stakes season. Notable contenders include It's My Show (Sweet Lou), who secured a $1 million victory and triumphed in the Little Brown Jug and North America Cup. Stockade Seelster (State Treasurer), the reigning champion of the Ontario Sire Stakes, and Voukefalas (Lazarus N), who claimed the title in the New Jersey Sire Stakes, are also in the mix.
The Prix d'Ete is scheduled to take place at H3R on Sunday, August 18, showcasing the top eight money earners of 2024. The Prix d'Ete is the most lucrative horse race in Quebec, offering the highest prize money of the year. To stay eligible for the final, make sure to submit the remaining nominating payments by April 15 and May 15.
"We are thrilled to announce the return of the Prix d'Eté after a four-year hiatus," expressed Sophie Mongeon, the Chairwoman of the Quebec Jockey Club. "We are pleased with the ample number of nominees, and our goal is to establish this as an annual event to highlight our racetrack on a global scale."
