Badgirl Bridgette Secures Fifth Consecutive Victory in Lady Slipper

Badgirl Bridgette (Stonebridge Terror) extended her impressive winning streak to five in the Lady Slipper stakes on Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino, Charlottetown Driving Park.

Trained and owned by William Lanigan of Cambridge, Badgirl Bridgette captured the $25,850 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies with Jason Hughes in the sulky, clocking in at 1:56.4. This marks her fifth win from six lifetime starts.

The second $25,850 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies went to Muchtooyoungforyou, driven by Marc Campbell. The Earl Watts-trained filly also posted a time of 1:56.4, representing owners Windemere Farms, River Valley Management, and Matt Burke.

In the $12,925 Lady Slipper Grassroots divisions, Elm Grove Treasure (Corey MacPherson) won in 1:59.2 for trainer Kyle Williams, Mindbodyandsoul (David Dowling) took the victory in 1:58.3 for trainer Earl Watts, and Steady Heart (Marc Campbell) claimed a win in 1:58.4 for Bo Ford.

Freshman standout Malevolent (Malicious) claimed an emphatic win in the $25,500 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold stake for two-year-old pacing colts, winning by open lengths in 1:56.2. Paul Langille, who both trains and drives the colt, shares ownership with Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille of Nova Scotia.

Rosetown Eclipse captured the other $25,500 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold division, winning in 1:56.3 for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson and owners Rosetown Stable, Jim Gorman, and Mike Gorman.

The $12,750 O’Brien Grassroots divisions were won by Bentley (Marc Campbell) in 1:59.2 for trainer John Clarey and Evil Lou (Mike McGuigan) in an identical time of 1:59.2.

Marc Campbell continued his dominance with four driving wins on the day, extending his lead in the Red Shores driver standings.

In the $4,500 Preferred Pace, Twin B Tuffenuff (Gilles Barrieau) triumphed in a swift 1:52.2 for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown.
