The harness racing stable of Ashley Gamester reportedly experienced a remarkable day on Sunday afternoon. Bee Two Bee, a horse by Sunshine Beach, secured a Preferred Pace win at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino located in the Charlottetown Driving Park.
It was noted that Bee Two Bee came from the back of the pack, making a strong charge down the stretch to surpass the frontrunner, No Plan Intended, driven by David Dowling, in the $4,200 Preferred Pace, finishing the race in a time of 1:54.1. Blood Money, driven by Gilles Barrieau, took second place, while No Plan Intended finished third. Jason Hughes was the driver for Bee Two Bee, representing owners Donald MacRae and Blair MacLauchlan. The horse was considered the fourth choice on the betting board, contributing to a lucrative $551.50 triactor payout.
Earlier in the program, Hughes and Gamester celebrated additional victories, including a win with Laughagain Hanover at 1:58.3 odds of 4-5 in race 1 and Mac Anover, who won in race 9 with a time of 1:57 at 4-1 odds.
Marc Campbell, another prominent driver, also achieved a driving quadruple during the event. With just three racing cards left in the 2024 season, live racing is set to continue on Saturday, December 21, at 12:30 P.M., followed by special holiday events on Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve. The Winter Meet will conclude on January 25, 2025.
