Bozak (Dancin Lou) continued his impressive run with a second consecutive win in the Prospect Series, securing leg 5A for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings at Flamboro Downs on Tuesday, September 17.
Starting from post four, driver Brett MacDonald guided Bozak to the front, clocking a first quarter of :29.4. He reached the halfway mark in :59.2 but faced a challenge from Winchester Phoenix (Austin Sorrie) as they approached the three-quarter pole in 1:28.3, with the two colts neck-and-neck. Bozak surged ahead by a length as they turned for home, ultimately holding off the closing Winchester Phoenix for a half-length victory, stopping the clock at 1:57.3. Bobby Bone Breaker (Travis Henry) finished in third place.
With this win, Bozak improves to three victories in nine starts during his rookie season, marking his third consecutive triumph following a stretch of six races without a win. Trained by Brenda Lane, Bozak has now earned a total of $13,880 and is co-owned by Brenda, Mark, and Anthony Lane.
In the first division, Silverwalls (Betterthancheddar) celebrated his first career victory, racing to the winner’s circle after taking the lead early with Scott Coulter at the reins. He maintained his advantage against Five Star Lou (Travis Henry) down the backstretch and secured the win by a length and a half in 1:56.2. Five Star Lou finished in second, while Babbling Billy (Samuel Fillion) took third.
After six attempts without success, Silverwalls finally secured his first victory for owner Dale Hunter. Trained by Dennis Morrissey, he has now earned $6,488.
This race marked the last preliminary round of the Prospect Series for rookie pacing males, with finals scheduled for September 27.
Flamboro Downs will host its next card on Thursday, September 19, starting at 6:35 p.m. EDT.
