This Tuesday evening, the Red Shores Summerside Raceway will host a thrilling lineup of races, highlighted by a competitive feature event.
The Prince County venue will present 14 races starting at 6 PM, with the spotlight on the $3,300 featured pace set for race 13.
Brookdale Johnny (Rockin In Heaven), a four-year-old gelding, is the favourite from post 5, driven by Paul Langille and trained by Phil Sizer. He is co-owned by Doug Polley Sr. and Doug Polley Jr. from Amherst, N.S. Brookdale Johnny recently pulled off a mild upset, winning last week’s race at this level at odds of 7-1. Notably, he is sired by the Polley family's own millionaire pacer, Rockin In Heaven.
Challenging Brookdale Johnny from post 2 is Woodmere Ideal Art, driven by Jason Hughes and trained by Sifroi Melanson. With 42 career victories, he’s had a solid season, including a recent win in the top class at Inverness Raceway in Nova Scotia on September 1.
The competitive field also includes Coasttocoastshark (Brady Sweet), Howmac Charmer (David Dowling), and Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy).
The Backstretch Beat predicts a victorious night for Brookdale Johnny. "After sitting in the back last week and making an impressive move to win, he’ll have a shorter distance to cover this time with a smaller field. The Sizer stable, in partnership with the Polley family, has been on fire lately, and we expect that success to continue tonight."
Additionally, race 5 honors longtime Summerside Raceway supporter Lester Chappell. Midnight Mood (Myles Heffernan Sr.) is the favoured entry from post 4, trained and owned by Allan Gregory of Charlottetown.
Races 8 and 12 will feature Fox Group Racing Events, offering enhanced purses for participants in those classes.
In the $2,600 finale of race 14, Starshipzodiac (Dowling) is favoured from post 2, co-owned and trained by Reece Williams, alongside co-owner Robert Williams of Poplar Grove. Key competitors include Century Invictus (Heffernan) and Dressel Hanover (Damian MacLellan).
The evening will also feature a non-wagering P.E.I. Matinee Racing Championship Final after race 2, showcasing the best from the Island’s five matinee race tracks, including participants like La Vie En Belle (Carly Sweet), Paints Pride (Keith MacDonnell), One Lucky Rose (Philip Desroches), and Murray Cane (Zac Noye).
