As the 2024 harness racing season approaches its final stretch, Trot Insider provides an overview of the national leaderboard for drivers and trainers.
Defending three-time Driver of the Year, James MacDonald, continues his dominance, standing alone at the top of the Canadian standings. MacDonald is the only driver to surpass 300 wins and $7 million in earnings this year on Canadian tracks. So far, he has secured 344 victories and amassed $7,218,589 in prize money.
In second place for wins is Travis Henry, with 280 victories, followed by Garrett Rooney, who holds third with 243 wins. For earnings, Louis-Philippe Roy and Doug McNair rank just behind MacDonald, with $5,772,435 and $5,186,730 in purse money, respectively.
In the UDRS (Universal Driver Rating System) rankings, Brandon Campbell leads with a stellar .425 rating. He is followed closely by Guy Gagnon at .400 and Marc Campbell at .396.
On the trainer side, Jodie Cullen has taken the lead in wins, with her stable sending out 172 winning horses this year. Anthony Beaton has climbed to the top of the earnings leaderboard, with his runners collecting $2,549,816 in prize money.
Richard Moreau, last seen in action on July 22, holds second place in both wins (160) and earnings ($2,445,905). Kyle Fellows rounds out the top three, with 114 wins and $1,962,931 in earnings.
Guy Gagnon also leads the UTRS (Universal Trainer Rating System) category with a .424 rating, while Melissa Rennie follows with .411, and Brandon Campbell places third at .394.
