Cant See Me certainly lived up to her name during the $20,000 opening leg of the Whenuwishuponastar Series for two-year-old pacing fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park on the evening of July 23. After patiently pacing through the early stages, she made a decisive move to clinch victory at 10-1 odds, marking her first career start.
Little Papi, driven by Jody Jamieson, took the lead right from the start, followed closely by Charlotte Station, with Louis-Philippe Roy at the reins, in second place and Cant See Me, piloted by Bob McClure, in third. The top trio maintained their positions along the rail through splits of :28.4, :59, and 1:27.3.
Favored Au Jus Hanover, with James MacDonald driving, began to exert heavy pressure from the outside as she moved first-over just before the third quarter. Spoiled Beauty, driven by Doug McNair, picked up her cover. At this point, Cant See Me appeared to be boxed in and not in contention, as three fillies vied for the lead ahead of her. However, Spoiled Beauty provided just enough room for McClure to maneuver out, allowing Cant See Me to surge forward and secure a 1-1/4 length victory in a time of 1:54, finishing with a quick final quarter in :25.3.
Trained by Shawn Steacy and owned by Hudson Standardbred Stables Inc, Cant See Me is a two-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous and the Bettors Delight mare, Unseen. This race marked her first career win, and she paid $20.90 for the victory as a longshot.
