The closing day of the harness racing season at Century Downs on August 31 showcased Alberta's top horses competing for $248,400 in stakes. The highlights include Custard Dolce's record-breaking performance in the $70,000 ASHA Filly Pace for two-year-olds, where she won by seven lengths with a new track record of 1:54, surpassing the previous record set by Burning Hot at 1:55.2. In the $70,000 Century Casinos Pace for rookie colts and geldings, Outlawminutbyminut surprised as a 27-1 long shot, claiming victory in 1:57.1 following a fortuitous leader's break that allowed him to take the lead. His owners and trainer, Logan Gillis and Todd Teolis, saw him lift his earnings to $41,750 this season.

Outlawguns N Roses continued her excellent form by winning the $53,900 Alberta Sires Stakes Princess Final, finishing in 1:52.3 and marking her third consecutive win. This filly, trained by Rodney Starkewski, has 12 career victories and earnings reaching $269,700.

The evening concluded with Grey Horizon achieving victory in the Alberta Sires Stakes Plainsmen for three-year-old males, clocking in at 1:53.4. This colt's successful season has earned him $240,210 in total earnings.

Further highlighting the day, Shark Week, a renowned track record-holder, added to his impressive resume with another Preferred win, marking his 47th career victory in 1:50.4 and surpassing the $400,000 mark in earnings.
