The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS) Ontario is preparing to host its inaugural online Mixed sale this fall, with entries now open. This digital sale, a first for CTHS, will run from November 21 to 26, featuring weanlings, yearlings, horses of racing age, broodmares, and stallion seasons.
Colleen Dalos, vice-president of CTHS Ontario and president of Tall Oaks Farm, expressed enthusiasm for this addition to the sales calendar, noting it aligns with evolving industry trends. Dalos explained that, as sales adapt to modern changes, the digital format introduces many advantages for both buyers and sellers.
Dalos highlighted the benefits of this virtual format, mentioning that it enhances convenience and safety for horses. She added that a digital sale cuts travel expenses for buyers and reduces entry fees, offering a more cost-effective option. For broodmare owners and breeders, the digital approach also means lower stress for the animals and minimised risks associated with transportation.
