Canada’s leading harness racing trainer, Jodie Cullen, achieved an impressive milestone on Wednesday, Dec. 11, securing four victories at Flamboro Downs. The Dundas-based trainer continued to dominate the national standings, closing in on her personal records in wins and earnings.
Cullen's successful night began with Abovemypaygrade, a Sunshine Beach gelding, who secured a maiden-breaking win by over four lengths in 1:59.3. Travis Cullen, her son, expertly guided the three-year-old to victory.
Her next triumph came with Howyouplay Thegame, a five-year-old Sportswriter gelding, who delivered a commanding five-length win in 1:55.2 under driver Daryl Thiessen. Recently taken under Cullen’s training from owner/breeder David Snowden, the gelding now boasts 10 wins and career earnings of $75,766.
Later in the evening, Respect Our Flag, an eight-year-old gelding by Roll With Joe, secured his sixth win of the season. Stepping down from Woodbine Mohawk Park, the seasoned competitor, driven by Travis Cullen, wired the field in 1:56.2, adding to his lifetime earnings of $536,059.
Cullen’s final win came with Codename Cigar Box, a Custard The Dragon gelding. Despite a challenging first-over trip, the six-year-old prevailed as the favourite, clocking 1:55.1.
Cullen’s performance brought her season total to 220 wins, positioning her just five victories and under $60,000 shy of surpassing her personal bests. She remains firmly at the top of Canada’s trainer standings and leads Flamboro Downs by over 20 wins. Racing resumes at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:35 p.m. EST.
