Trainer Jodie Cullen, with driver Travis Cullen, enjoyed a standout night at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, December 8, securing three wins out of four entries from their stable. The duo’s strong performance on the nine-race card included a second-place finish and three trips to the winner’s circle.
The success began early in race two, where Tells Bells, a three-year-old filly owned by A1stable, led from start to finish. Clocking fractions of :30, 1:01.1, 1:31, and completing the mile in 2:01, the filly secured her third career victory as the 1-5 favourite.
The momentum continued in race eight with Wifey Said So, a four-year-old mare owned by Keith Hannah, Ronald Cullen, and Travis Cullen. Positioned behind Northern Belle for much of the race, she surged in the final stretch to claim victory in 1:59, marking her second win of the year.
The Cullen team’s evening culminated in race nine with Granite Beach, a four-year-old gelding owned by Grace Marshman and A1stable. Leading from the gate, Granite Beach dictated the pace with splits of :30, 1:01.2, and 1:30.3 before finishing in 1:59.1, achieving his ninth career win and boosting his earnings to $40,638.
As Flamboro’s leading trainer for wins and earnings, Cullen has recorded 215 victories this season with over $2.31 million in purse money. Racing will resume at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday, December 11, starting at 6:35 p.m.
