Del Diggity Secures Sixth Victory at Mohawk

Del Diggity has been enjoying success in the distaff claiming class this season, exemplified by her recent triumph on Thursday, March 7 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Under the guidance of Garry Merner and driven by Doug McNair, Del Diggity secured her sixth consecutive victory in a commanding fashion.

Leading from post three, the duo maintained their momentum throughout the race. With impressive splits of :27.4, :58.1, and 1:28.2, Del Diggity sealed the win with a comfortable 1-1/4 length lead in 1:56. Shovanna, guided by Trevor Henry, secured second place, while Italia Seelster, steered by Louis-Philippe Roy, settled for third.

A six-year-old mare, Del Diggity (So Surreal-Beach Sunset) has been triumphant in six out of her eight starts this year, accumulating total earnings of $133,810. Her record boasts 20 victories in 93 career starts.

Meanwhile, the Thursday evening event was headlined by Collector S, who clinched the featured $21,000 conditioned trot. Under the command of Sylvain Filion and trained by Harry Poulton, Collector S positioned himself in fourth place during the initial quarter in :28.2. Progressing steadily, he made a move to the outside at the halfway mark in :58.2, advancing to second by the three-quarters in 1:27. In a thrilling finish, Collector S outpaced Mercutio and Eternally Hanover, triumphing by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.4.

Collector S (Face Time Bourbon-With Me Always), a four-year-old gelding owned by Thestable Collector S, secured his second win of the year in eight starts, marking his third career triumph out of 14 races. With career earnings now totaling $46,775, Collector S overcame the 4-1 odds, rewarding backers with a $10.50 return on their investment.
