Dominant Performances by Long Train Runnin and Proven Desire Highlight Batavia Downs Races

The Western New York Trackmaster Series for pacers concluded its fourth and final leg at Batavia Downs on Monday afternoon, with Long Train Runnin and Proven Desire emerging as undefeated contenders in the Trackmaster 79 division finals.

Long Train Runnin, guided by Dave McNeight III, initially relinquished the lead to Dogfight and Kevin Cummings. However, McNeight swiftly manoeuvred "the Train" to reclaim the top spot, ultimately securing a victory in 1:55.3. This triumph marked Long Train Runnin's fourth consecutive win, owned by Paige Usiak and William Emmons, and trained by Jim Clouser Jr.

In the same division, Proven Desire, also owned by Clouser and Emmons, extended his winning streak to three with a commanding performance under the guidance of John Cummings Jr., clocking in at 1:55.4.

The connections of Clouser and Emmons enjoyed further success as Lanas Desire, driven to victory in 1:56.1, completed their hat trick for the second consecutive week. Noteworthy was the impressive performance of the 10-year-old pacer Sir Pugsley, who secured his 40th career win, leading from gate to wire and finishing in 1:56.2.

Taylor Fritz holds ownership and training responsibilities for Sir Pugsley, a son of American Ideal and Q And A, who has amassed $482,357 in career earnings. Notable drivers Dave McNeight III and Kevin Cummings both achieved a natural hat trick, winning three races each on Monday.

Additionally, trainers Sam Smith and Jim Clouser Jr. both recorded three wins, establishing them as co-conditioning leaders for the afternoon.

Looking ahead, the WNY Trackmaster Series pacing finals are scheduled for next Monday afternoon, featuring exciting races in the TM79, TM75, and TM71 divisions, with generous purses up for grabs. Batavia Downs will resume live racing on Thursday, February 15th, including the final round of the Western New York Trackmaster Series for trotters. The 13th race will also present a thrilling opportunity with a $2,273 carryover in the Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta.
