For Iscreamuscream August 17 is a big challenge day

The Del Mar Oaks (G1) on August 17 is shaping up to be an exciting showdown, featuring the undefeated Iscreamuscream against formidable competitors like Whiskey Decision and Medoro. Iscreamuscream, trained by Phil D'Amato, has established herself as a strong contender on turf, with a flawless record and a notable victory in the San Clemente Handicap (G2T) where she outfinished Medoro. Her performance, combined with her successful training history on the course, makes her a top pick.

Whiskey Decision, trained by Arnaud Delacour, also brings a credible winning streak, with impressive victories at multiple tracks. Her recent success at Delaware Park in the Christiana Stakes certainly raises her profile as a serious threat in the Oaks.

Medoro, the only other filly in the conversation, has a strong resume but faced a challenging outing in the San Clemente after a slow start, leading to her first defeat. Her trainer, Peter Eurton, will look to optimise her performance in the Oaks, where she will again be partnered with Antonio Fresu.

The race will also include notable entries from D'Amato’s barn, such as Zona Verde and Honeymoon winner Circle of Trust, each with their own stakes experience. Additionally, Buchu, a well-accomplished shipper trained by Philip Bauer, adds depth to the field with her big-race experience and noteworthy earnings.

With multiple winning streaks, different racing backgrounds, and a strong field of contenders, the Del Mar Oaks promises to be an exciting and unpredictable race. All eyes will be on Iscreamuscream as she attempts to maintain her unbeaten status against a talented group, including the challenge from Whiskey Decision and potentially resurgent performances from Medoro and others.
