Geocentric, Awarded filly with a fast pace On the first Wednesday morning in May, began her second season at Hoosier Park with a winning qualifier.
In her qualifying debut, Geocentric finished a pocket trip behind the seasoned 12-year-old Secret Threat with times of :30, :59.2, and 1:28.2 for driver Trace Tetrick in a mixed four-horse field of older pacers. The leading two finished far clear of the rest, and then Geocentric paced alongside the leader down the stretch and finished with a final quarter time of 26 seconds to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.4.
Under Brian Brown's instruction, the Sweet Lou-Geometry filly finished her first campaign with a nine-for-10 record and $556,251, earning her divisional honours in the United States.
She won the Pennsylvania and Kentucky Sire Stakes in addition to winning the International Stallion Stakes Grand Circuit division in a lifetime-best speed of 1:49.3 at The Red Mile. She was the Breeders Crown elimination winner at Hoosier, where her sole career loss came in the final, where she finished seventh.
Geocentric, a $55,000 acquisition from the Black Book Yearling Sale, is competing for Ohio owners Milton Leeman, Alan Keith, James Stambaugh, and Joe Sbrocco.
May 17 at The Meadows is the first leg of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for sophomore pacing fillies. Geocentric is also qualified for Woodbine Mohawk Park's June Fan Hanover Stakes.
