Goffs has announced the postponement of the sale to October 19

Due to insufficient stabling facilities at Leopardstown Racecourse, Goffs has announced the postponement of the sale originally set for September 14 during the Irish Champions Festival. Instead, the focus will shift to next month’s Goffs British Champions Day Sale for the featured horses.

Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby stated on September 5: "We learned this morning that we could not utilise the racecourse stables for the sale of horses as we have in previous years, despite our proactive discussions with Leopardstown and the IHRB. This is mainly due to the anticipated increase in runners, resulting from an expanded race card and the addition of numerous international competitors. While we are certainly disappointed, constructing temporary stabling for the sale horses does not align with the high standards we aim to uphold."

"We will redirect eligible horses to the Goffs British Champions Day Sale at Ascot on October 19. We look forward to re-evaluating the Champions Sale concept in 2025, applying insights gained this year and allowing more time for comprehensive planning."

The inaugural Goffs British Champions Day Sale at Ascot in 2023 featured standout sprinter Rogue Lightning, who sold for £1,000,000 to Richard Brown on behalf of Wathnan Racing. The sale will again take place at the Ascot parade ring ahead of race day.
