Gold Cup and Saucer Champion Time To Dance Earns First Win of 2024

Time To Dance (A Rocknroll Dance) claimed his first harness racing win of the season on Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. With Marc Campbell in the sulky, Time To Dance took control early, setting fractions of 28.1, 57.2, 1:26.1, and crossing the finish line in 1:54.4. He bested Tradition (driven by Gordie Hennessey) and First Glance (David Dowling) to secure the $4,100 featured pace. Trained and co-owned by Brent Campbell, alongside Brady Doyle and Kent MacDonald, the former Gold Cup and Saucer champion recorded his first victory of 2024 and his 52nd career win.

Marc Campbell and Brent Campbell also found success with Pauls Crown, winning race 8 in a time of 1:55.

Driver David Dowling had a stellar evening, claiming three wins. He started by guiding newcomer TH Boomtown (1:57) to victory in race 2 for trainer Ron Matheson, followed by wins with Check Your Source (1:58.4) in race 3 for the Gordie Hennessey Stable and Bacononabiscuit (1:54.3) in race 7 for trainer Jennifer Doyle. Doyle's stable also secured a second win with Luckiesmanalive (1:54), driven by Damian MacLellan, in race 5.

Colin Sheppard teamed up with trainer Morgan Sheppard to secure two wins as well, with Doc Darryl (1:57) in race 1 and Shakemeup Hanover (1:58) in race 4.

Additionally, the Saturday program featured two non-wagering P.E.I. Matinee Racing Championship Finals. Painted Pony, driven by Billy White, won his final in 2:03.2, while Freedom Delight, in line with Zac Noye, claimed the second final in 1:58.2.
