Jerry Gourneau showcased his training prowess at Assiniboia Downs last week, securing a remarkable seven wins across Monday to Wednesday's racing schedule. His consistent performance not only solidified his lead in the trainer standings with a total of 17 victories but also positioned him strongly for potentially clinching his fourth consecutive training title and sixth overall.

Gourneau's winning streak included three victories on Monday, one on Tuesday, and another impressive hat trick on Wednesday. His dominance has created a significant gap ahead of Devon Gittens, who follows with 8 wins, while Mike Nault, Tom Gardipy, Jr., and Steve Keplin, Jr. trail behind with 5 and 4 wins respectively.

Jockey Prayven Badrie played a pivotal role in Gourneau's success, riding two of his seven winners during the week. Badrie's stellar performance earned him a total of five wins, extending his lead in the jockey standings with 14 victories. Damario Bynoe closely trails with 10 wins, followed by Antonio Whitehall with 9.

Newcomer apprentice Rachaad Knights also made an impressive debut at Assiniboia Downs, securing five wins throughout the week. His notable victories included guiding Brody’s Streak and Prairie Drifter to the winner's circle for trainers Tom Gardipy, Jr. and Devon Gittens, respectively.

Speaking of Gittens, his training skills were evident with first-time starter No Magic, who triumphed in the fourth race on Tuesday. Bred by Dr. Betty Hughes and co-owned by Gittens, Frank Johnson, and Stephanie Kutny, No Magic's victory highlighted Gittens' adeptness with debutants and horses returning from layoffs.

Gary Danelson, the leading percentage trainer in 2023 and an iconic figure at Assiniboia Downs, secured his first win of the season with Kate’s Princess in the second race on Wednesday. This victory marked a significant milestone for Danelson, reaffirming his enduring influence and success in the racing community.
