Grassroots division at Woodbine Mohawk

The Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots featured four divisions for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (Jun. 18). In the first division, Lakers Bank (All Bets Off, Travis Cullen) edged out Sports Activator (Louis-Philippe Roy) to win by a half-length in 1:52.1, with Tamworth Boy (Jody Jamieson) finishing third. Lakers Bank, trained by Tim Myers for Vel Spar Stables of West Hill, remains undefeated in the Grassroots series and set a new lifetime-best time.

The second division saw Century Komodo (Bettors Delight, Doug McNair) holding off Chalk Hanover (James MacDonald) to win in 1:51, with Wild Doc Holliday (Trevor Henry) in third place. Owned by Domenic Chiaravalle, Gary Volpe, and Cantucky Farm, Century Komodo secured his first Grassroots victory and has earned $36,290 in his career.

Always A Thrill (Bettors Delight, MacDonald) dominated the third division, winning by a length-and-three-quarters in 1:50.3 ahead of Chesterman (Henry) and T H McMurry (Roy). Trained by McIntosh, Always A Thrill has won an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg and has  career earnings of $268,584. Robert Mcintosh Stables, Al Mcintosh Holdings, and Mardon Stables co-own the talented three-year-old.
