Hard work for Jessiejesorjessica

Jessiejesorjessica (Justice Hall) will attempt to secure her third consecutive Open Trot victory in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The 11-dash program, which begins at 6 P.M., will be closely monitored by Red Shores and Industry officials due to an approaching weather system. Updates will be provided by Noon.

In Race 8, the $3,300 Open Trot, Jessiejesorjessica is the morning line favourite from the assigned post 6. Driven by David Dowling and trained by Jennifer Doyle for owner Danny Birt, the eight-year-old mare has won her last two races at this level and boasts 47 lifetime wins.

Her stablemate, New Legacy (Father Patrick), starts from the rail with Adam Merner driving. Despite winning 14 races in 2023, New Legacy is still seeking her first victory of 2024. Alcina, driven by Ken Murphy and trained by Doyle, has post 2 and won her 2024 debut last week.

Mile Hill Willie (Gilles Barrieau) returns to action for trainer Paul Morrison from post 4, making his first start since July 2023. Irish Ray, trained by Landon Campbell and driven by Marc Campbell, has consistently finished second in his last four starts on P.E.I. and will start from post 5.

The Post Time Picks favour New Legacy, predicting a return to winning ways:

“New Legacy has been sharp since arriving on the Island and really not that far away. There’s little doubt Adam will be guarding the cones, and if that’s the case he could return to his winning ways.”

In the race 11 finale, Woodmere Rollily was the top choice for a $3,050 pot. Driven by Adam Merner and trained by Melissa Rennie, Woodmere Rollily aims for her third straight win from post 6. Chief rivals include Outrageous Style (Barrieau) from post 8 and Elm Grove Redwine (Dowling) from post 4.
