Hensley Duo Secures Victory Across Western Fair's Preferred Races

In a stunning display of skill and determination, Ed Hensley guided both Ashleigh Hensley students, Major League N and Andy Over, to victory in their respective Preferred classes at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday, Feb. 20. These high-stakes races, each boasting an impressive $11,000 purse, showcased the Hensley team's prowess on the track.

The excitement began with Major League N's commanding performance in the Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace. Taking post four, Ed Hensley steered her straight to the lead, setting a blistering pace with splits of :28.4, :58.3, and 1:26.3. The duo surged ahead, securing a triumphant win by three-quarters of a length in a time of 1:55.1. Shoot The Whiskey and Randomirogeo claimed second and third place, respectively, in a thrilling battle for supremacy.

Owned by Ed and Ashleigh Hensley, Major League N, an 11-year-old mare sired by Gotta Go Cullen out of Candlestick Park, achieved her first victory of the year and an impressive 38th career win out of 157 starts. With total earnings amounting to $367,288, the mare, with odds of 2-1, delivered a solid performance, returning $6.20 to win.

Not to be outdone, Andy Over, another star from the Hensley stable, showcased his mettle in the Preferred Handicap Trot. Overcoming a challenging route to victory, Andy Over, a seven-year-old gelding by Andovers Son out of Victory Love, displayed grit and determination as he surged from post seven to claim a hard-fought win.

Under the expert guidance of Ed Hensley, Andy Over made a strategic move from seventh position, gradually advancing through the field. With a strong finish, he emerged victorious in a time of 1:59, edging out his competitors by a half length. Bucktober and Delgado secured second and third place, respectively, after a closely contested race.

Andy Over's triumph marked his third win in six starts this year and an impressive 31st career victory out of 160 races. With total earnings reaching $239,292, this talented gelding, with odds of 4-1, rewarded his supporters with a ticket worth $10. The Hensley team's dominance on the track was truly a sight to behold, showcasing their skill and dedication to the sport.
