On Tuesday, April 30, Insanity (Muscle Mass) defeated his harness racing rivals 10-1 in the Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The gelding had ratings from Jason Ryan of :28.2,:58.4, and 1:27.3 splits on the lead. Ed Hensley's Andy Over attempted a first-up from the halfway point, but the leader held him off the entire time. The challenger and several other horses made slight progress towards the end due to Insanity but the winner managed to hold them off and win by a length and a half in 1:57.4. Second place went to Andy Over, while third place went to Colin Kelly's Thirdtimesthedream.
It was Insanity's first victory in his career at the Preferred level. The Ben Hollingsworth trainee is now two-for-13 on the year for owner Michael Goldberg. In his 111 starts, the six-year-old gelding has claimed 17 victories and earned $183,762 to date.
