Johnny Buckshot dominates in Western Fair's Preferred race

Scott Wray delivered an impressive performance in the last three races of the Wednesday (April 3) evening card at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, securing a hat trick of wins. His final triumph came in the highly anticipated $11,600 Preferred Trot. Wray triumphed in the main event, winning by a significant margin, alongside Katie MacNeil's pupil, Johnny Buckshot.

Johnny Buckshot positioned himself in third place while Scene A Magician, driven by Lorne House, took the lead and set the pace for the entire mile. Following the initial panel at 28.2, Wray strategically positioned Johnny Buckshot on the outside, trailing behind Heavy Dude E, who was unable to find a clear path (Ryan Desroche).

The first half was completed in :58.4, and Heavy Dude E started to slow down on the outside, causing Johnny Buckshot to make a move from the outside lane towards the three-quarters mark, which was reached in 1:28.4. At the last bend, Johnny Buckshot secured the second position. He surged ahead of Scene A Magician in the final stretch. He continued to extend his lead, winning by a commanding 4-3/4 lengths in an impressive time of 1:58.1. In Scene A, the Magician came in second place, while Hot Fudge Sundae, also known as Alfred Carroll, finished off the tractor.
