The fifth edition of The Raceway’s Drivers Holiday Challenge concluded with local reinsman Lorne House narrowly securing the title by a single point over Tyler Borth, the 2024 Ontario Regional driving champion. The event, held on December 10, 2024, in London, saw fierce competition throughout the night.
Borth started strong, claiming victories in three of the first four races with Rising Dragon, Candescent Hanover, and Blackcreek Rosebud. However, House, participating in his first career driving challenge, gained momentum in race 5 with Sheplaysforkeeps and followed it up with three consecutive wins aboard Pajamas Optional, The Great Reset, and Greystone Ian O.
Entering the final race, House held a slim two-point lead. Although both House and Borth finished outside the top positions in race 12, House’s earlier successes secured his first title with a total of 92 points. Borth finished second with 91 points, while Bob McClure claimed third place with 74 points.
The event, a holiday highlight at The Raceway, was broadcast on COSA TV and Rogers Community Cable TV for the first time. The racing community's generosity was on display, with $6,500 in cash donations and a total contribution exceeding $10,000, including toy donations.
The Raceway will maintain its holiday racing schedule, including special cards on Boxing Day at 12:55 p.m. and New Year’s Eve at 6:30 p.m., continuing the festive spirit of harness racing.
