Cameron McQueen enjoyed a memorable evening at The Raceway at Western Fair on Tuesday, Dec. 17, achieving a training hat-trick during the card.
The night began with back-to-back wins from his trainees, Blossom Onthebeach and Southern Flight, both steered by Travis Henry. Blossom Onthebeach launched her effort in Race 1, sitting third early before challenging the leader, Time to Imagine, by the halfway mark. She sustained her momentum through a tight stretch battle to claim victory in 2:00.1. An eight-year-old mare owned by McQueen, Blossom Onthebeach secured her 31st career win, adding to her impressive earnings of $251,659.
Southern Flight followed suit in Race 2, overcoming a challenging start. After navigating wide early and battling alongside the leader past the half, the gelding took control and surged to a clear win in 2:02. The 10-year-old, owned by Cecilia Richardson, marked his 33rd career win, pushing his earnings to $372,850.
The grand finale came in Race 10 when Jims Big Thrill delivered an exhilarating photo-finish win. After briefly yielding the lead, the gelding powered through the passing lane to clinch victory in 2:00 flat. Owned by McQueen, the six-year-old now boasts 12 wins and $75,823 in lifetime earnings.
With 106 wins and $445,653 in earnings from 510 starts in 2024, McQueen’s stellar form continues, complementing his leading trainer titles at Dresden and Leamington. Currently, ranked second at Western Fair, McQueen’s achievements underline his rising status in harness racing.
