Dr. Tracy Turner, a partner at Turner Wilson Equine Consulting in Stillwater, Minnesota, has been appointed president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), as announced during the organisation’s 70th Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida, on Dec. 10.
Having retired from private practice in late 2023, Dr Turner specialised in equine sports medicine, lameness, and surgery. He founded Turner Equine in 2016 after spending 12 years with Anoka Equine Veterinary Services and dedicating 23 years to academia. A graduate of Colorado State University’s veterinary program in 1978, Dr. Turner has been an AAEP member since 1986.
His contributions to the organisation include serving on the board of directors from 2017 to 2019, chairing the Farrier Liaison Committee, and participating in the Educational Programs, Student Relations committees, and the Foundation Advisory Council.
Dr. Turner has also held leadership roles outside the AAEP, including serving as president of the Minnesota Horse Council, the Minnesota Association of Equine Practitioners, and the American Academy of Thermology. Additionally, he served on the board of directors for the American Academy of Equine Sports Medicine.
This extensive experience in equine medicine and professional organisations positions Dr. Turner to guide the AAEP in its mission to advance equine veterinary care.
