The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has announced that the GII Miss Grillo Stakes, originally slated for Sunday as the eighth race, will now take place on Sunday, October 6, owing to heavy rainfall. This event is a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 2-year-old fillies at Belmont at the Big A.
The Miss Grillo Stakes provides a "Win and You're In" opportunity for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on November 1 at Del Mar. This graded race will be redrawn and included as an extra race on a card that already features the GII Beldame Stakes and the GIII Matron Stakes. Entries for the rescheduled card on October 6 will be accepted on Wednesday, October 2.
Additionally, NYRA confirmed that four other turf races from the original nine-race card scheduled for Sunday (Races 3, 5, 6, and 9) have been moved to the main track. The eight-race card will still commence as planned, with the first race starting at 1:05 p.m. ET. The post time for the ninth race has been adjusted from 5:13 p.m. ET to 4:48 p.m. ET.
All multi-race wagers that included the eighth race have been cancelled and will be refunded. The $1 Pick 6, featuring a carryover of $83,911, has been postponed to Thursday, October 3, and will start in the third race at 1:42 p.m. ET.
