On Labour Day, Doc Awesome Is victorious at Summerside Raceway

SUMMERSIDE, PE – Doc Awesome (All Bets Off) claimed victory in the Labour Day harness racing feature at Red Shores Summerside Raceway on Monday afternoon. Guided by driver Paul Langille, the Duane MacEachern-trained horse won the $3,000 feature race for owners Darla MacEachern, Allen Gaudet, and Mike Cameron, all of Summerside. Doc Awesome secured the win with a time of 1:57.1, defeating Sauble Attack (driven by Ken Murphy), who finished second, and pacesetter Freemans Legacy (Jaycob Sweet), who took third place.

In the Garth Schurman Memorial race (Race 2), Sinbuster Six led from start to finish, clocking in at 1:59.1 for driver Jason Hughes, trainer Blaine McKenna, and owner Ronnie MacLean of Argyle Shore.

The Labour Day Pace (Race 8) was won by Egamer, who, with driver Brady Sweet, surged from the two-hole to secure a victory in 2:00.1 for trainer Garth Cole, who co-owns the horse with Hailey Cole of Kensington. This win was part of a driving triple for Sweet, who also claimed victories with Just Shocking (1:58.2) in Race 7 for trainer Rick Armstrong and Thinkingofeddie (1:58) in Race 6 from Sweet's own stable.

The Earl Watts stable delivered a double win, both with David Dowling driving. Rock The Baby (1:58.2) took Race 9, and Starship Glyde (1:56.4) captured the top spot in Race 12. Dowling also secured a win in Race 10 with Wickham (1:58.4), trained by Chris MacKay, marking a triple for the driver.

The Joe Baxter stable celebrated two victories, including a maiden-breaking win with Miss Believing (2:03.1) in Race 1 and a third consecutive win for Bettim Alive (1:59) in Race 5. Both horses were driven by Ken Murphy, who also drove St Barts (2:00) to victory in Race 4 for trainer Clifford Murphy.

Live racing resumes Thursday evening at 6PM at Red Shores Charlottetown.
