Ontario CTHS Board Revitalized with New Leadership and Vision

Ontario's Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS) has inaugurated a new board, infusing fresh perspectives and diversity into its leadership. The board convened for the first time on Wednesday, focusing on executive roles, duty assignments, and future strategies.

David Anderson of Anderson Farms is the new president of the CTHS. He is also the chair of the Sale Committee. Anderson brings extensive experience from his roles with the HBPA, Ontario Racing, and as a steward of the Jockey Club of Canada. He resigned from his HBPA position to dedicate himself to the CTHS. He aims to fortify industry-wide relationships. This will benefit breeders. They will have stronger alliances with organizations like HBPA, OR, OLG, and Woodbine.

Colleen Dalos is returning to the board as the first vice president. She will also chair the Marketing Committee. She is also the president of Tall Oaks Farm. Dalos plans to prioritize sales. They will implement innovative strategies to attract new breeders and promote the industry. The company focuses on supporting breeders and stimulating industry growth.

Doug Anderson is new to the board but seasoned in the industry. He has assumed the role of second vice president and chair of the Finance Committee. Anderson has a background in successful racing and breeding partnerships. His vision includes enhancing the CTHS sale. He also wants to raise the profile of Ontario horses to create a vibrant market.

Arika Everett fills the vacancy left by retiring president Peter Berringer. She joins Michaela Kemp and Ericka Rusnak to bring balanced gender representation to the board. The board includes John Burness, John Carey, Frank Di Giulio Jr., Bernard McCormack, and Glenn Sikura.

Under David Anderson's leadership, the new board is set to introduce innovative ideas and strategies. They aim to share these plans with members soon. This revitalized board represents a dynamic shift for the CTHS. It is ready to make significant improvements in Ontario's horse industry. This will strengthen and grow the industry.
